Here is Paris, silent, with street noises and children noises, just shots of the City of Light for nearly an hour. Almost a little vacation there. No bad music, no irksome narrator, in any tongue. Just sit back and relax, drink it in, wish you were there. The time is December of 2011, a more relaxed Paris, a Paris of this season. Thanks to GlobeTrotterAlpha. And thanks for your steady camera work and your willingness to linger so that the eye can enjoy the scene, without a whole lot of jumping around. Enjoy.

Yeah, Work Progress, I loved that video. I’ve seen a lot of videos made recently about some very nice places, and there are very lovely shots in those videos, but you see them so briefly that they are hard to enjoy, and they are intermixed with so many tricks of the videocam and the editing process that you don’t know whether the city’s beauty or the cameraman’s technical virtuosity is the main attraction. Give me a long shot moving smoothly across a horizon, narrow or wide, without noise and without agitation, and I am happy. I will look for more such videos of alluring places. And this video on Paris was beautiful even though the weather was bleak almost throughout the day of shooting. Amazing.
